In early 2023 a stache of 2603 emails became public. These emails outlined the push for normalizing and passing anti-trans laws, primarily gender-affirming care bans for youths in South Dakota.

These emails are despicable and overwhelming to read through and absorb. Below they are visualized as a whole. A mass of type, links, email signatures, and hate-filled messages peeking through.

The push for anti-trans laws in the United States has become immense. As of 5/4, there have been 524 laws targeting the transgender community so far this year. While many of these laws will fail, and the ones that do pass will be challenged in court, the damage has already been done. Lives have been lost, blood has been spilled.

There are calls to eliminate trans people from society. There are laws that try to do that, limiting what bathrooms we can use, what clothes we can wear, and what health care we are allowed to receive.

The news coverage of the spread and propagation of anti-trans ideology has been disappointing, to say the least.

Outlets like the New York Times frequently amplify the voices of those who wish to do harm to trans people, whole minimizing the damage the voices cause. They put into question the ease at which trans people are able to get care.

So much so that one of their articles was sighted in a gender-affirming care ban.
